I am licensed clinical social worker who has been providing mental health and substance abuse services to the Richmond community for the last 20 years in both inpatient and outpatient settings. My experience includes inpatient psychiatric hospital work, intensive outpatient, chemical dependency groups and individual therapy and couples therapy.

 

I treat clients with anxiety, depression, addiction, mood disorders, relationship issues and codependency. I employ CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapy and mindfulness modalities. I support 12 step and Smart Recovery modalities for addiction and recovery treatment. I focus on solution-based interventions to help you heal your mind, body and spirit and develop individualized coping skills to help you move successfully to a full and satisfying life.  I believe wellness can be achieved with talk therapy, physical activity and developing a connection with the natural world. Originally from Alexandria, VA., I received my Bachelor’s degree in English from George Mason University in 1995. I realized I was interested in pursuing a career in the helping profession and moved to Richmond in 1997 to enroll at VCU School of Social Sork. I received my MSW in 1999. Richmond became my home and I worked with community service boards and inpatient mental health facilities before transitioning to private practice.

 

When not doing therapy, I can be found working in my garden or riding my bike.
