Diane Mattingly, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Diane Mattingly, LCSW, works with adults and teens who present with a variety of mental health symptoms, with a particular focus on adults with unresolved early childhood trauma and PTSD, chronic health conditions, first responders, victims of domestic and/or sexual violence, and those with chronic health issues
Born in Washington, DC, and raised in Northern Virginia, Diane retired from The Washington Post and settled in the Richmond area after earning her Masters in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. Diane also holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in English with a concentration in writing from George Mason University.
As a social worker, Diane has worked in hospice, with college students at VCU, in regional hospital emergency departments assessing clients for the need for hospital admission, as an emergency responder to area hospitals for patients who present with sexual assault, with victims of sex trafficking and domestic violence, and those with chronic health problems. Diane has volunteered with the Virginia Law Enforcement Assistance Program (VALEAP), to enable officers to resolve trauma they had experienced on the job.
Diane is an EMDRIA-approved consultant and trains others in the use of this valuable trauma protocol. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) inspired Diane to go into private practice, where she eventually built and sold a group practice in Richmond, VA.
When she's not serving as a therapist, Diane enjoys reading novels, learning crochet, traveling, her dog (Opie), and possibly several outdoor kitties.
