Who Am I?

Hello! I am Jory Owen (Jor-ee, he/him). I am a licensed professional counselor who works with primarily adults. I enjoy working with individuals with various mental health conditions, as well as specializing in trauma treatment. I also have experience working with individuals with disabilities and enjoy providing support to individuals with disabilities, and worked in Applied Behavioral Analysis during undergraduate and through my graduate program. I am particularly passionate about navigating changes in their lives, or processing previous traumatic experiences that continue to impact their functioning in today's world. As a homosexual cisgender male, I also enjoy working with and advocating for LGBTQIA2S+ individuals.

Young adults as they explore who they are and who they are becoming.
Individuals in the LGBTQIA2S+ community.
Individuals with disabilities.
Individuals with anxiety, depression, OCD, mood disorders, and other serious mental illnesses.

Some of my favorite approaches include:

I take a very person-centered approach and my number one favorite approach is simply to meet my clients where they are at! I do this by being client-centered, strength-based, empathetic, and trauma informed. Flexibility is also a huge cornerstone of my practice, and ensures that we don’t get stuck in one particular treatment modality. I like to pull from a number of different approaches in order to foster change and promote growth. Some of my favorite treatment modalities include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing. This creates an engaging and interactive experience that allows for self-expression and exploration, and meeting the client's needs and where they are in their wellness journey.
